PTC tries to support mostly applicative and research
studying in accordance to the highest international standards. We try to
encourage innovations, which is why we strive towards applicability of the
results into practice. We also try to establish a firm connection between
research and teaching – thus using the latest research achievements in the
education process.
The research is performed in close co-operation with companies
and with the international partner research and educational institutions.
The most important achievements in this area are:
- Establishing the research team: PTC established a
research team in 2009, which was entered into the register with the Slovenian
Agency for research. Members of this team are: prof. dr. Majda Žigon, doc.dr.
Ivo Verovnik, dr. Konrad Steblovnik, dr. Irena Pulko.
- Co-operation with the Excellence centre Polimat: we
are co-founders of this centre that connects 22 Slovenian companies research
institutions in the field of polymer technology. The main aim of this centre is
to bring together, so far successful but spread around the country, capacity of
the leading public research groups and small or middle-sized companies in the
field of polymer materials and together develop polymer materials for advanced
applications and in accordance with the princip of sustainability and
low-carbon society.
- Partnership in the project HIP: we are very proud
that we have been partners from 2009 and thus included in the research project
HIP - Development of low-cost, lightweight highly insulating polymers for
refrigerated transport, heating and cooling installations, which is financed by
the EU.
- Project Know-Man: Network Management in Technology
Parks, the purpose of which is to improve the regional innovation and
development policies for the use of network approach with the management of
knowledge, enables us to transfer Good Practices into the region. The aim of
this is to create a connection between the civil (administrative) institutions,
research facilities and the innovative small and medium size companies.
We include our post-graduate students in the
scientific work as they gain valuable experience and also help to complete the
projects.
We improved the research equipment that we have in the lab
for material characterisation.
